WAY THISTLE Description. The root is white and creeping: the stalks are numerous, tough, of a pale green, smooth, not much branched, and a yard high. The leaves are numerous, long, moderately broad, and of a strong green; they are deeply and irregularly notched and sinuated at the edges, and beset with long and sharp prickles. the flowers, in this subject, terminate the branches in numerous small heads, and are of a pale purple. Place. It is common in fields, and under hedges. Time. It flowers in July. |
