SEA WALL-FLOWER Description. This is a lesser plant than the foregoing, The root is long, slender, and furnished with a few fibres. The stalks are numerous, weak, and branched; they stand but irregularly, and they are of a pale colour, and a little hairy. The leaves are long, narrow, and deeply indented at the edges; tehy grow without footstalks, are somewhat hairy, and their colour is a pale whitish green. The flowers stand at the tops of the stalks and branches: and they are large and white. The seed-vessels are long, somewhat thicker than in the common kind, and hairy; but what is very singular in them is, that each terminates in three points instead of two of the common kind. The seeds are small, oval, and flatted. |
